Sandy Lane Storage Tank Dawlish

Client: South West Water
Project Value: £480,000
Scope:

As part of South West Water’s ‘Clean Sweep’ project for Dawlish a second storage facility was required to contain combined foul and surface storm water for areas outside the town centre. A segmental concrete storage tank was constructed within the boundaries of the football club car park and all works were completed inside the 12 week contract period

The 20m diameter tank was sunk as a ‘Jacked Down Caisson’ to 8m depth using Charcon precast segments. Two additional pumping station wet wells, 5m diameter x 5m deep and 3m diameter x 3m deep, were also sunk within the existing storage tank to house the pumping equipment and hydraulic control facilities. The pouring of the storage tank base in  one operation, requiring 300 cu. m. of pumped concrete, completed Delta’s involvement in the ‘Dawlish Clean Sweep’ project with whole scheme completed mid 2000.
